Mersey to Fylde Coast: Casino Nights in the North West

The North West has always been a place where people come to be entertained, from the Liverpool waterfront to the piers and promenades of the Fylde Coast. The casinos here carry on that tradition with a friendly, unfussy welcome.

The North West has always been a place where people come to be entertained, from the Liverpool waterfront to the piers and promenades of the Fylde Coast. The casinos here carry on that tradition with a friendly, unfussy welcome.

This guide looks at six licensed rooms across Liverpool, Blackpool, Bolton and Preston: what the gaming floor offers, what is nearby to eat and sleep, and what each place feels like on an ordinary night.

Use it to plan a weekend on the coast or an evening out in the city, with the tables as one part of a bigger trip.

Along the way you'll find our pick of the best casinos in Merseyside & Lancashire, with a rundown of the casino games at each — from blackjack and roulette to baccarat and slots. And to be clear, this is a guide to real, land-based venues you can visit in person: it is not an online casino.

Planning

Planning a North West casino trip

Liverpool and Preston are easy by train, and Blackpool has a direct line from Preston, so you can link two or three of these without a car. Bolton sits on its own rail line towards Manchester.

Blackpool is busiest on summer weekends and during the Illuminations, when hotel prices climb. Midweek and shoulder-season stays are usually quieter and better value.

Bring photo ID, decide on a budget before you sit down, and plan your journey home in advance so the night ends when you intended.

Questions

North West casino questions

Do I need to be a certain age?

The minimum gambling age in the UK is 18. Bring valid photo ID, as you will be asked for it at the door.

Do casinos charge for entry?

Yes. Licensed UK casinos are free to enter with photo ID, and membership is normally offered free at the door.

Can I combine a casino night with a seaside stay?

Easily. Blackpool has two casinos close to its hotels and promenade, while Liverpool's waterfront and city-centre hotels are a short taxi ride from its rooms.

Is this an online casino?

No. Dock & Dealer is an independent guide to real, land-based casino hotels and the best casino venues you can visit in person across Merseyside & Lancashire. It is not an online casino, and not a place to play casino games for real money on the web — we simply help you decide where to go.
